Our Petite École FLAM
Welcome !
Supplementary School FLAM (Français LAngue Maternelle or French as a mother tongue)
Farandole offers French as a mother tongue (FLAM) classes for French-speaking children.
Our programmes take into account the pupils' bilingualism or plurilingualism.
Literacy lessons from British schools (phonology, punctuation, grammar, reading methods, etc.) are also taken into account.
Saturday Mornings
Farandole opens its doors to over a hundred French-speaking pupils every Saturday from 9.30am to 12pm, from early September to early July.
It follows the term calendar of Birmingham schools.
Farandole can also offer online or individual face-to-face lessons during the week, when attendance on Saturdays is not possible.
DELF Prim et Junior exams preparation
Farandole includes preparation for the DELF PRIM and Junior exams in its programmes for families who wish their children to take them.
A Charity
Farandole is managed by the AFSP (Association of French Speaking Parents) which has Registered Charity status (registration number 1151991).
All parents are members of the association and have one vote per family at the association's general meetings..
Would you like to help ?
Do you speak French ? Are you available on some Saturday mornings? Even just for an hour? Could you help us on a regular or occasional basis?
Our FLAM supplementary school is always in need of volunteers to keep it running smoothly.
You could help out at reception, in the library, covering books, helping with reading, on the festive committee or preparing teaching resources.
A DBS check will be carried out for each volunteer to ensure the protection of children and young people.

History
Our association was created in 2010 thanks to Emilie Abblard.
In its early years, it received support from the French Consulate and Embassy.
It received a FLAM start-up grant from the AEFE (Agence pour l'Enseignement du Français à l'Étranger) for basic investments: resources, libraries and textbooks.
